How KARC Began
Bart Belanger, President of KARC, has traveled in Southeast Asia since 1987. In 2008, he decided to visit Cambodia. “As I crossed the border, it was like being slapped in the face with poverty. Then and there I knew my calling…”
While there, he met two orphaned girls who had no home and were living on the sparse generosity available in their very poor community. His heart immediately moved and he found temporary housing for them, returned to the US and researched solutions. He returned with funds and support to focus on helping kids at risk through housing, health care and education.
Bart found the girls all of those things at a safe children’s home, CIO. The girls are now living there with loving parents, food, clothing and education. + See Jenny and Jenna’s Recent Update
Bart realized that he wanted to start an organization to fund this type of work. Because of his dedication to the idea, a few of Bart’s friends became involved and KIDS AT RISK – CAMBODIA, INC. began to take shape and exists today, growing and enabling others to join him in helping children have a better future.
